KEYD Project
KILIMANJARO EMPOWERMENT FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT:
KEYD is one of the two core initiatives under Afrikas Engleborn, started in August 2024, with a mission to uplift and empower vulnerable youth in the Kilimanjaro region. Through KEYD, we equip young girls and boys with practical, income-generating skills that pave the way for independence, dignity, and a sustainable future.
We offer vocational training in the beauty industry, focusing on makeup artistry, hair braiding, and professional styling—fields where creativity meets entrepreneurship. These skills not only build confidence but also open up real opportunities for self-employment and financial empowerment.
Beyond vocational training, KEYD places a strong emphasis on environmentally sustainable practices. We promote organic farming techniques, including drip irrigation to conserve water and compost making to enhance soil health without harmful chemicals. These methods are designed to address food security and encourage responsible stewardship of natural resources.
As passionate climate champions, we also advocate for and lead tree planting initiatives—from fruit trees that contribute to food sustainability, to shade trees that support a healthier local ecosystem. Through community awareness and active participation, we aim to foster a generation that understands the urgent need to care for our planet.
KEYD is more than a training center—it’s a movement toward youth empowerment, climate action, and community resilience.
